JOB OVERVIEW • Job Title: Emergency Medicine • Job Type: Locum Tenens • Location: Laredo, Texas • Service Setting: Emergency/Freestanding Emergency Department • Coverage Type: Clinical Only • Coverage Period: 10/01/2026 - Ongoing • Clinical Shift Schedule: 24-hour physician coverage using 12-hour shifts • Travel, Lodging, and Malractice Insurance: Covered PATIENT INFORMATION • Patient Volume/Census: - Doctors Hospital of Laredo – 24,500 annual ED visits - ER South – 26,000 annual visits - ER Saunders – 26,000 annual ED visits - ER Wright Ranch – 9,000 annual visits • Pediatric Care: Complex pediatric transfers are referred to Corpus Christi or San Antonio FACILITY INFORMATION • Doctors Hospital of Laredo: - 183-bed acute care facility; Level III Trauma Center; 13-bed Emergency Department with 8 regular rooms, 2 negative-pressure rooms, 2 trauma rooms, and 1 cardiac room • ER South: 14-bed freestanding Emergency Department • ER Saunders: - 9-bed freestanding Emergency Department with 5 sub-waiting spaces • ER Wright Ranch: - Freestanding Emergency Department with 9 exam rooms and 1 trauma room • Physician Coverage: 24 hours using 12-hour shifts • EMR: Cerner • Trauma Designation: Level III at Doctors Hospital of Laredo • Specialty Support: Cath Lab, CT Scan, ICU, MRI, Physical Therapy, Behavioral Management/Psychiatry, OB/GYN, Neurosurgery, Pediatrics, Orthopedics, Urology, and Trauma Services • Available Services Onsite: Laboratory, radiology, CT, X-ray, and ultrasound, depending on facility • Facility Services: 24-hour emergency care; additional hospital services include weight-loss surgery, wound care, hyperbaric medicine, women's health services, cancer care, and cardiac/chest pain services REQUIRED PROCEDURES • Emergency medicine evaluation and treatment • Management of life-threatening and critical emergencies • Diagnostic evaluation using available laboratory and imaging resources • Complex pediatric emergency care and transfer coordination as applicable • Clinical management of conditions including stroke, heart attack, abdominal pain, back pain, cuts and lacerations, sprains, broken bones, and infections JOB REQUIREMENTS • Current Texas Medical License • DEA Certification • Board Certified • ABEM (Doctors Hospital of Laredo)• ABEM, ABIM, or ABFM (ER South, ER Saunders, and ER Wright Ranch)• ATLS, ACLS, and PALS • Fellowship preferred • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Room experience required for ABFM or ABIM candidates at ER Wright Ranch • Prior travel experience DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES • Provide emergency medical care across the assigned Doctors Hospital of Laredo facilities. • Provide physician coverage through 12-hour shifts as scheduled. • Evaluate and treat patients presenting with emergency and life-threatening conditions. • Coordinate care with APPs, nursing staff, specialists, and hospital support services. • Utilize available laboratory, radiology, CT, X-ray, ultrasound, and other diagnostic resources. • Coordinate transfer of complex pediatric patients to Corpus Christi or San Antonio when required. • Maintain required medical licensure, DEA certification, and clinical certifications. • Complete required clinical documentation and responsibilities in accordance with facility requirements.
