About the Position

TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified ICU/Critical Care RN in Kearney, Nebraska, 68847!

Job Title: ICU RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: ICU (Intensive Care Unit) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Current RN License Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Artificial nails are prohibited in all departments providing patient care. Description: Candidates must be within a specified radius. They may not be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with the organization. Drivers’ licenses are required. Weekend shifts are Saturday and Sunday. RN candidates must pass a skills exam during orientation. They will have access to all necessary resources to complete the exam. A score of 90% is required to pass, or termination of contract will occur. Blocked scheduling is not typically approved unless limited to weekends only. Pairs wanting the same schedule will not be accepted. If placed on call and then called back in, candidates must arrive within 30 minutes. The unit has a total of 33 beds, with an average daily census of 16. Nurse-to-patient ratios for adults are typically 1:2-3. Common patient diagnoses include trauma, cardiac issues, substance abuse, sepsis, post-stent care, pacemaker placement, stroke, vascular cases, renal failure, heart failure, and respiratory distress. RNs are required to titrate drips. Common titratable or set rate drips include cardiac, insulin, and sedation. Nurse aides are available based on census and may assist RNs as needed. Healthcare support technicians work three days per week. RNs must be able to troubleshoot respiratory equipment such as vents, CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow. Shifts and scheduling vary between 0630-1830 and 1830-0630. Self-scheduling is allowed for core staff, with travelers added as needed. No guarantees of block scheduling can be made. RNs are required to read, interpret, and document telemetry strips. Floating to other units may occur but will maintain similar patient ratios. There are holiday requirements of a minimum of two holidays during the contract timeframe. Weekend requirements include every other weekend. Unit-specific orientation consists of one shift. RTO requests must be made upfront, and additional requests will not be approved. The charting system used is EPIC. A BSN is not required for this position. The facility has a trauma level of 2. The care setting is acute. The division is nursing. The nurse's shift notes are for 12-hour nights. Required certifications include ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS.
