About the Position

Job Title: ICU RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: ICU (Intensive Care Unit) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: BSN required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Driver's license required Description: Unit has a capacity of 33 beds with an average daily census of 16. Nurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1:2-3 for adults. Common diagnoses include trauma, cardiac issues, overdose/substance abuse, sepsis, post-stent care, pacemaker placement, stroke, vascular cases, renal failure, heart failure, and respiratory distress. RNs are required to titrate drips, including any cardiac drip, insulin, and sedation. There are nurse aides available based on census, and they may assist the RNs on the floor as needed. RNs are required to read, interpret, and document monitor strips. The monitor brand used is GE, with tele tech oversight of monitors. Floating to other units, typically PCU and occasionally MedSurg, may be required. Holiday requirements include a minimum of 2 holidays that fall within the contract timeframe. Weekend requirements are every other weekend. RTO (Request Time Off) is needed upfront and additional RTO will not be approved after submission. The charting system utilized is EPIC. This position may involve caring for patients in acute settings, with a strong emphasis on teamwork and patient advocacy.
