Enrichment Site Coordinator (3632)

POSITION SUMMARY The Enrichment Site Coordinator, Afterschool Program, is responsible to coordinate an afterschool enrichment program for School‑Age children in grades TK‑8th. In support of the program, the Enrichment Site Coordinator helps to plan a quality after‑school experience for youth that includes academics (homework help, tutoring, literacy), enrichment (fine arts, STEAM, projects, arts and crafts, etc.) and recreation (sports, fitness, nutrition and wellness). This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Enrichment Site Coordinator serves in a leadership role and creates positive, nurturing relationships with children while building cooperative relationships with parents/caregivers, staff and partners. He or she promotes and supports the potential of all youth in programs and facilitates peer‑to‑peer connections as part of the overall program experience. The Coordinator provides direction for staff to support children in the classroom and implements program curriculum focused on mastering specific skills, delivering a quality experience that builds achievement and belonging in youth and relationships among youth and within families. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Develops, organizes and implements high‑quality child‑care program at assigned location, ensuring purposeful programming dedicated to building achievement and belonging in youth and relationships among youth and within families. Develops positive relations with the school campus as a YMCA representative, assisting with marketing efforts and achieving enrollment goals. Supports supervisor with onboarding and training of staff members, coordinating schedules and workflow to ensure the program operates safely and efficiently. Observes, coaches and provides feedback to staff members at the assigned location and provides feedback to the supervisor regarding staff performance. Maintains close visual supervision of children, following ratios based on specific program; no child is left unsupervised or staff alone with a child at any time. Helps children manage behavior using a positive approach, including proactive strategies, redirection and using constructive discipline with natural and logical consequences. Actively supports the Y’s commitment to inclusion and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act where appropriate. Supports planning and implementation of program curriculum and activities that are focused on skill development, developmentally appropriate, consistent with the Y values and established guidelines. Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards, maintains site and equipment, and maintains required program records in accordance with Y expectations. Makes ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child, communicating with the supervisor regarding child development. Cultivates positive relationships and maintains effective communication with parents, engaging parents as volunteers and connecting them to the Y. Attends and participates in fundraising activities, family events, program activities, staff meetings and trainings as assigned. Follows Y policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child‑abuse prevention and emergencies. Follows reporting procedures and proactively responds to situations to ensure a safe environment for all involved. Understands and complies with current federal, state, local regulations, Y policies and procedures, and license program standards at all times. Maintains positive relationships with parents, other Y team members and community partners, modeling relationship‑building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions. Attends staff meetings and trainings as required. Upholds Y policies for safety, supervision, mandated reporting and risk management. Demonstrates the Y core values of caring, respect, honesty and responsibility when working with members, guests, volunteers and fellow staff. Education: High school diploma or equivalent. ECE/CD Units: Completed semester units in child development, human services or related fields preferred, but not required. Related Experience: Previous experience working with school‑age children in a group setting preferred. Previous experience with diverse populations preferred. Ability to plan, organize and implement age‑appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds. Specialized Skills: Strong character values, strong communication skills, emotional maturity. Licenses & Certifications: First Aid, Adult, Infant and Child CPR certifications (or completed within the first 60 days of hire). Completion of child‑abuse prevention training prior to first day in program. Immunization & Physical: Negative TB test. WORK ENVIRONMENT / MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS You must have the physical, visual, and auditory ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.
