Maintenance Technician

Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumonic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, manufacturer's instructions and engineering specifications; trouble shooting malfunctions.
• Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
• Remove defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
• Determine changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules; calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
• Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
• Controls downtime by informing productions workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.
• Fabricate repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
• Maintain equipment, part, and supply inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.
• Conserve maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
• Provide mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
• Prepare mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
• Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; establishing personal networks.
• Maintain continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

EQUIPMENT KNOWLEDGE:

• Proper operation of hoists and cranes in a safe manner and complete any training/safety program relating to the operation of the equipment.
• Operate company computer systems.
• Operate general hand tools.
• Operate shop floor equipment.

• Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment to meet team expectations.
• Ability to understand and support company policies and procedures.
• Ability to understand and abide by all safety rules and regulations to perform the job.
• Possess good communication and reasoning skills with the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions whether written or oral.
