This individual will serve as the lead electrical estimator for firm fixed‑price pursuit in coordination with the Senior Estimating Manager. Who are we? As a Senior Estimator, you will supervise a team of Estimators in an effort to price and bid multiple projects. You will work under an experienced professional that will provide you with opportunity to learn the department’s standard operating procedures and build strong relationships with the Preconstruction team. You will have a heavy hand in the coordination and supervision of other Estimators and will price/bid projects that shape your community. Responsibilities Read plans and specifications and understand the requirements of the RFP focusing on electrical systems (high and medium voltage), switchgear, fixtures and devices, temporary power requirements, power distribution, Telecomm, Electronic safety and security, and other related specification sections. Analyze, quantify, and provide cost estimates for the electrical scope of work. Inclusive of Gilbane’s General Requirements. Develop accurate labor crews, crew productivity and provide input for project schedule. Advise designers, in design‑build projects, on solutions with the lowest initial cost to meet the RFP. Write effective RFI’s. Create and coordinate comprehensive bid packages. Identify and engage with electrical subcontractors throughout the bidding process. Create and distribute the electrical bid scope of work checklist. Collect, analyze, and compare competitive subcontract and supplier bids. Develop and recommend appropriate risk register values for this scope of work. Track and report on current material and labor prices, including escalation. Track and report on current material and equipment to identify long‑lead items. Experience/Education Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management field and/or office experience equivalency. 7‑10+ relevant experience. Lump Sum Bidding. Experience in Federal construction programs and markets is desired but not required. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Extensive knowledge of AccuBid, On‑Screen Take‑off, and similar software for take‑offs and estimate pricing for electrical systems construction. Supportive computer skills for varied formats such as basic Windows applications plus PDFs, TEAMS, Zoom, etc. Ability to support the design and layout development of electrical and low voltage systems for design‑build pursuits. Ability to present estimating deliverables to management and explain advantages in utilizing one contractor over another, scope gaps, cost swings, etc. Ability to conceptually estimate projects with limited information. Ability to estimate multiple facility types such as hospitals, hangars, office structures, specialized mission structures, base improvements, renovations, and additions. Ability to maintain healthy working relationships with industry partners (Owners, designers, subcontractors, etc.) for the development of estimating deliverables. Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
