Senior Accountant

Accounting support is an important function within the organization. The Senior Accountant manages the books and records of CommuniCare Advantage ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial reports. They will also supervisor and mentor an Accountant.

Job duties and responsibilities

• Responsible for ensuring timely month end close processing and financial statement review and distribution.
• Create and reviews reports, analyzes variances, and distribute to management.
• Performs and/or reviews monthly account reconciliations and various accounts payable reconciliations.
• Manages AP relationship with Corporate Services.
• Oversight of GAAP to STAT entries and tracking.
• Directs NAIC Quarterly and Annual Filings information with external partner
• Takes point in collecting support and tracking during various audits
• Other accounting projects and functions as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience requirements

• A bachelor degree in accounting and 5-7 yrs of accounting experience, preferably in a healthcare insurance environment.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Must be knowledgeable in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), understanding of Statutory Reporting (STAT) beneficial.
• Must have the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant
• Must be able to deal tactfully with team members and managers
• Excellent Excel skills are required
• Workday experience a plus.
• Superior organizational skills, strong task management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks. Also important are excellent interpersonal and communication skills with both internal and external customers, and the ability to work in a team oriented environment.
• A positive attitude, with a high degree of ethics and personal integrity, as well as confidentiality, are traits needed to be successful in this role.
