Summer Seasonal Grounds Maintenance

Seasonal position with the City of Beloit. Wages range from $17.00 to $18.00 hourly depending on experience. Work sites include all City Parks, Krueger Golf Course, Eastlawn Cemetery, City Parcels, and Public Right-of-Ways.

Job Summary:

The seasonal grounds maintenance worker will assist full-time City employees with grounds maintenance work which includes mowing, weeding, line trimming, planting flowers, litter/debris pick-up, painting, event set-up/take-down, tree/bush trimming, cleaning bathrooms, watering plants/trees, cemetery care, and the operation of applicable equipment including hand tools, chippers, tractors, bark blower, auger, rotary tiller, sod cutter, and hedge trimmer. Complete other duties as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The seasonal grounds maintenance worker will:

• Assist with grounds maintenance work
• Operate various equipment
• Complete other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Minimum requirements include:

• 18 years of age upon employment
• Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the day
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Experience in grounds and landscape maintenance and equipment care preferred
• Obtain ATV/UTV License within one month of hire

The seasonal grounds maintenance worker must be creative, enthusiastic, highly organized, motivated, dependable, patient, and able to maintain discipline. Must be capable of following directions and have an ability to learn new skills. Possess good written and verbal communication skills, the ability to complete daily paperwork, and work well with others from different cultures and backgrounds.
