Para-Educator Substitute

Job Description Title: SUBSTITUTE PARA-EDUCATOR This Position is: Non-Exempt Primary Function: Assists the classroom teacher by performing assigned duties related to the learning process such as assembling and preparing instructional materials and monitoring students under the direction/supervision of the teacher or building administrator in the absence of the regular Para-educator. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or copy of high school transcript. Ability to quickly learn procedures. Ability to follow oral and written directions. Reports to: Principal and Director of Human Resources Performance Responsibilities: Reports to the designated individual upon arrival at the school. Demonstrates a willingness to work with all students. Maintains student confidentiality. Reports student incidents or accidents to appropriate administrator as deemed necessary. Follows all policies, rules and procedures. Remains in the building or on school grounds during the hours assigned as a Substitute. Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities. Performs other duties as assigned. Job Specifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential performance responsibility satisfactorily. Possess familiarity with the duties of a school Para-Educator. Demonstrates some knowledge of the principles and methodologies of a Para-Educator. Possesses ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Possesses the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, & the public. Possess the physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds, ability to bend, stoop, sit on the floor, climb stairs, walk and to reach overhead.
