Senior Bookkeeper performing entry-level Staff Accountant duties manages high-volume daily transactional bookkeeping while assisting with foundational general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, and month-end close processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Bookkeeping & Transaction Processing
- Oversee full-cycle Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR).
- Code, verify, and post vendor invoices, customer receipts, and daily bank deposits.
- Run semi-monthly or bi-weekly payroll processing and payroll tax submissions.
- General Ledger & Month-End Support
- Prepare and post routine general ledger journal entries and accruals.
- Perform monthly bank, credit card, and balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Investigate and correct transaction discrepancies or unbilled items to support the month-end close.
- Reporting & Audit Preparation
- Assist in compiling data for basic income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
- Organize financial records, ledgers, and supporting documentation for internal and external audits.
- Track fixed assets and maintain depreciation or prepaid schedules. [1, 2, 3]
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: 3 to 5 years of progressive bookkeeping experience with exposure to general ledger accounting.
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in QuickBooks, Xero, or enterprise resource planning (ERP) software, alongside advanced Microsoft Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables).
- Knowledge: Foundational understanding of basic Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Soft Skills: High attention to detail, strong time-management skills, and clear written and verbal communication.
