Details Critical Care Float Pool position within a teaching hospital environment Floats across multiple ICUs based on staffing and patient acuity, including Neuro ICU, Surgical ICUs, Medical ICUs, Cardiology/Diagnostics, CVICU, SICU, and NCCU Floating is limited to units of equivalent or lower acuity Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00-7:30 All contracts must extend through January 2, 2027 Requirements Active OH or compact RN license required at time of consideration Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required Teaching hospital experience required Prior travel nursing experience strongly preferred Proficiency with Epic EMR required Required skills: IV starts, telemetry monitoring, and ventilator management Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager/director or supervisor; charge RN acceptable as second reference; no coworker references accepted Additional Information Responsibilities include care of critically ill patients requiring advanced interventions such as arterial line management, central/PICC line care, chest tube assistance, BiPAP/CPAP and ventilator management, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips May care for patients requiring EVD, ICP monitoring, lumbar drains, CVA/stroke management, and post-cardiac surgery care Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing contract; those outside Ohio may need to travel to a fingerprinting location or complete a mailed packet urgently RTO must be requested at time of submission and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less Local candidates are accepted at the same pay rate Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are ineligible to be hired as travelers First-time travelers are not preferred for this role given the strong preference for previous travel nursing experience American Traveler Job ID P-750958.
