Role Description The Elementary School Counselor is a full-time, on-site role based within the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex at Howe ISD’s elementary campus. This role provides individual and small-group counseling to support students’ academic, social, and emotional development. Daily responsibilities include conducting guidance lessons, collaborating with teachers and families to address student needs, and developing intervention plans for students facing academic or behavioral challenges. The counselor participates in campus support teams, assists with referrals to specialized services, and coordinates with community resources as appropriate. Additional duties include maintaining accurate documentation, supporting positive school climate initiatives, and contributing to campus-wide programs that promote student well-being and success. Qualifications Demonstrated ability to provide Student Counseling and general Counseling services to elementary-age students. Skills in Career Counseling appropriate to elementary-level exploration and awareness activities. Knowledge of Special Education processes and experience collaborating with special education staff on student support plans. Experience in Community Outreach, including building partnerships with families and local organizations to support students. Master’s degree in School Counseling, Counseling, Psychology, Education, or a related field (or progress toward such a degree, as permitted by state requirements). Valid Texas school counselor certification or eligibility to obtain appropriate state licensure/certification within a defined timeframe. Strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, families, staff, and community members. Ability to maintain confidentiality, adhere to ethical standards, and follow district and state policies and procedures. Experience in a school setting or with children and youth in an educational or counseling environment is preferred. #J-18808-Ljbffr
