Maintenance Technician – Night Shift

This Maintenance Technician role supports a fast-paced, fully automated manufacturing environment by performing high-level industrial maintenance with a strong focus on electrical troubleshooting. The technician maintains production uptime through advanced diagnosis and repair of PLCs, motors, and plant systems, ensuring equipment reliability and efficiency across the facility.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on production equipment to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems to restore equipment to safe and efficient operation.
• Support PLC troubleshooting on automated equipment, identifying and resolving control-related issues.
• Work with motors, conveyors, drives, pumps, and industrial control systems to maintain consistent production flow.
• Assist with boiler controls, compressors, steam systems, and other plant utilities as needed.
• Maintain production uptime and equipment efficiency by responding quickly to breakdowns and performance issues.
• Use knowledge of sensors, photo eyes, relays, limit switches, and other sensor systems to diagnose and correct faults.
• Read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics to guide troubleshooting and repairs.
• Complete documentation and maintenance logs accurately and in a timely manner to support maintenance tracking and compliance.
• Follow all safety and environmental policies, procedures, and PPE requirements while working around electrical panels, moving machinery, and plant utilities.
• Collaborate with production and maintenance team members to prioritize work, communicate equipment status, and support continuous improvement.
• Participate in structured training programs and apply learned skills to improve maintenance practices and equipment reliability.

Essential Skills

• Proven electrical troubleshooting experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Hands-on PLC troubleshooting and industrial automation experience.
• Strong knowledge of 3-phase motor controls and AC/DC drives.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Experience working with motors, conveyors, pumps, and power transmission systems.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.
• Solid understanding of sensors, photo eyes, relays, limit switches, and industrial control systems.
• Competence in mechanical troubleshooting, including gearboxes and related components.
• Strong computer skills within a Microsoft environment for documentation and system interfaces.
• Commitment to following safety procedures and working safely around high-speed automated equipment and plant utilities.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Exposure to steam systems, boilers, and compressors is preferred.
• Experience in packaging or corrugated manufacturing environments is a plus.
• Familiarity with high-speed automation and PLC-driven equipment.
• Ability to work effectively on a consistent night shift schedule.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment

The role is based in an industrial manufacturing facility focused on packaging and corrugated products, featuring high-speed automation and PLC-driven equipment. Technicians regularly work around electrical panels, moving machinery, conveyors, motors, and plant utilities such as boilers, compressors, and steam systems. Personal protective equipment is required, including steel toe footwear, which is provided. The position operates on a night shift schedule from 10:45 PM to 6:45 AM, six days per week with one consistent day off, in a structured environment that prioritizes safety, reliability, and efficient production.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $64937.00 - $81161.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
