Maintenance Worker - Facilities

Job Summary Performs skilled and manual work in the maintenance, repair, and construction of county facilities, grounds, and infrastructure. Ensures operational safety, performs routine inspections, and assists with special projects as assigned. Essential Job Functions Facility Maintenance: Perform general maintenance and repair work on buildings, grounds, and equipment. Preventative Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections and perform preventative maintenance on plumbing, HVAC, and electrical systems. Interior & Exterior Repair: Assist with drywall, painting, carpentry, and minor electrical or plumbing repairs. Equipment Operation: Operate skid steer, mini-excavator, forklift, and other power equipment for maintenance and repair tasks. Inventory Management: Move and organize tools, materials, and equipment; maintain accurate inventory records. Roadway & Grounds Maintenance: Perform snow and ice removal, lawn mowing, trimming, and other groundskeeping duties. Safety Compliance: Follow safety procedures and maintain equipment in safe operating condition. Team Coordination: Collaborate with other maintenance staff to complete projects efficiently. Emergency Response: Respond to maintenance emergencies including plumbing leaks, electrical outages, and storm damage. Documentation: Maintain logs of work performed, materials used, and maintenance requests completed. Knowledge of basic trades including plumbing, carpentry, and electrical systems: Skill in using hand and power tools safely and effectively. Position Requirements Position Maintenance Worker - Facilities Education and Experience HS diploma or GED 2 years previous relevant work experience Licensing Valid Class E driver’s license Success Framework Ability to read and follow work orders and technical manuals Knowledge of OSHA and county safety standards Ability to prioritize work assignments and manage multiple tasks Physical strength and endurance to perform labor Skill in operating light and heavy equipment Ability to identify maintenance issues and recommend repairs Knowledge of preventive maintenance methods and materials Ability to work independently and within a team Effective verbal and written communication skills Commitment to safe work practices and attention to detail Ability to maintain accurate maintenance records Basic computer and email proficiency Flexibility to respond to after-hours maintenance calls Commitment to teamwork and dependable service Basic math and measurement skills for estimating materials Equipment and Tools Hand and power tools; skid steer; mini-excavator; forklift; snow removal equipment; safety PPE; computer; Microsoft 365.
