Job No: 540218 Work Type: Full Time Location: Main Campus (Gainesville, FL) Categories: Facilities Operations/Skilled Trades, Veteran's Preference Eligible Department: 63400300 - FS-BLDGSRVC OPERATIONS-HC Job Description Classification Title: Custodial Worker III Classification Minimum Requirements: Completion of ninth grade and two years of relevant experience. Responsibilities: Receive assignments from Supervisor and may work alone or with a small group, overseeing the work of others while working alongside them. Lead a team of custodial workers; direct, lead, and/or coordinate the work of others. Assist in continuous training and daily monitoring of custodial employees. Order supplies and manage equipment inventory and budget. Participate with the supervisor in discussions with employees about work performance and behavioral issues. Assist new employees with inputting time-off requests as needed. In the absence of the Custodial Supervisor, supervise the work group. Manage processes and phases in AiM and assign work orders. Cleans and maintains all floors, floor coverings, doors, partitions, and restrooms, using sweeping, dusting, mopping, vacuuming, burnishing, encapsulation, and spot washing. Operate floor care equipment such as scrubbers and burnishers, recondition floors (shower scrub and topcoat), and spot wash exterior and interior glass surfaces of assigned buildings. Clean ceiling lights, vents, and other fixtures; empty and clean all waste cans, trashcans, recycle bins, and water fountains. Properly maintain battery powered equipment, checking battery water levels monthly. Notify building managers of the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems. Maintain a Class E Drivers' License. Follow all Building Services Standard Operating Procedures, Facilities Services Policies, and Directives. Undergo criminal background check and physical examination. Schedule & Compensation Normal Work Schedule: 5:00 PM to 1:30 AM (Monday through Friday). Workdays and shift times may vary to meet special event coverage or departmental needs. Occasionally holiday and weekend work is required. Total Hours: 40 per week. Salary: $16.00 to $16.80 per hour. Essential Personnel Status: This position is considered Essential Personnel as defined by UF Policy. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Completion of ninth grade and two years of relevant experience. Preferred Qualifications: High school diploma and two (2) years of commercial custodial experience. Knowledge of commercial cleaning procedures and techniques. Experience with Aim, Kronos, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PeopleSoft). Experience managing large and multiple crews and operations. Experience positively managing and motivating a diverse workforce. Experience interfacing and providing customer service that aligns with Building Services' values and vision. Experience working collaboratively and cooperatively in a team environment. Floor care training and experience (hard surfaces and carpets). Experience in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and painting.
