Certified Coding Specialist

To support the health information management team, the full-time Certified Inpatient Coding Specialist will perform coding and abstracting of medical records remotely, ensuring accurate diagnosis and procedure coding while maintaining compliance with industry standards. Key responsibilities: Examine medical records to determine principal and secondary diagnoses and procedures with a target accuracy of 96% Abstract and enter coded information into the Epic system for timely billing, adhering to productivity standards Process provider queries and collaborate with coding staff to ensure accurate documentation and coding practices Required qualifications: Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification (required) High School Diploma or GED (required) Minimum of 1 year of experience coding inpatient medical records (required) Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field (preferred) Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification (preferred)
