Certified Coding Specialist

Working remotely on a full-time basis, the Certified Coding Specialist will review clinical content of various medical records, assign appropriate ICD-10-CM and CPT codes for optimal reimbursement, and maintain coding accuracy while adhering to compliance standards. Key responsibilities Analyze and code outpatient and inpatient medical records to ensure correct diagnosis and procedure coding Enter coding information into the computer system for reimbursement and assist with peer review auditing for accuracy Instruct hospital personnel on medical necessity for accurate coding and maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines Required qualifications High school diploma or equivalency required; coursework in ICD-10-CM and CPT coding procedures is necessary Certification as a Certified Coding Specialist - Professional (CCS-P) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) is required Preferred certifications include Certified Coding Associate (CCA) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) Minimum of one year of facility coding experience in a medical environment required Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and coding compliance standards is essential
