Senior Backend Software Engineer

Salary: $72,000 - 112,000 per year Requirements:

• Bachelors degree.
• At least 7 years of IT experience and 5 years of software development experience.
• Advanced hands-on proficiency in at least one programming language, or practical experience with two coding languages; experience with Kotlin, Java, Python, or a comparable JVM/backend language.
• At least 3 years of expert-level Google Cloud Platform (GCP) experience designing, deploying, and managing cloud workloads.
• At least 3 years of expert-level experience with big data and large-scale, high-volume or high-velocity datasets.
• At least 3 years of expert-level API development experience, including RESTful or GraphQL APIs.
• At least 2 years of expert-level BigQuery experience, including SQL optimization, dataset management, partitioning, and clustering.
• At least 1 year of experience building, training, and deploying machine learning models or rule-based expert systems.
• Experience with backend frameworks and technologies such as Spring Boot, gRPC, and REST API design.
• Experience with data technologies such as BigQuery, PostgreSQL, Redis, Bigtable, Kafka, or Pub/Sub.
• Experience with GCP or an equivalent cloud platform, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Preferred: Familiarity with the broader GCP ecosystem, such as Pub/Sub, Cloud Functions, GKE/Kubernetes, Cloud Build, CI/CD, or cost-optimization and FinOps practices.
• Preferred: Experience with TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Vertex AI.
• Preferred: Experience with TDD, MLOps-related data pipeline patterns, database performance tuning, and API versioning.
• Preferred: Certification program experience.

• Design, build, and operate scalable, high-performance backend services and APIs that process and provide fleet telematics data, including GPS, trip events, driver behavior, vehicle diagnostics, and sensor telemetry.
• Develop and maintain real-time and batch pipelines that move high-volume vehicle event streams from systems such as Pub/Sub and Kafka into data warehouses and operational stores.
• Deploy and manage workloads on GCP, including Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, IAM, VPC networking, and Cloud Composer; configure access controls and address production performance and cost issues.
• Design and optimize data pipelines and storage architectures for large, fast-moving datasets, applying distributed computing, partitioning, and data lake or warehouse patterns with tools such as Spark, Hadoop, Kafka, or Dataflow.
• Build, train, and deploy machine learning models or rule-based expert systems for decision automation.
• Design, implement, secure, and document RESTful or GraphQL APIs, including authentication, authorization, versioning, rate limiting, and integrations with internal and external systems.
• Write and optimize BigQuery SQL; manage datasets, partitioning, and clustering to improve performance and control costs.
• Connect BigQuery with BI tools and downstream applications for analytics and reporting.
