Senior Accountant Responsibilities Supports a multi‑unit organization through general accounting activities, internal controls, and financial reporting and analysis. This position is primarily responsible for the monthly general ledger close process, accurate recording, and preparation of financial statements. Key responsibilities also include general ledger and bank account reconciliations, supporting management reporting, financial analysis, oversight of inventory accounting, and treasury‑related activities as needed. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Preparation of General Ledger entries and reconciliations for month‑end closing. Assisting in posting routine accounting entries. Analysis for the Inventory Excess & Obsolescence Reserve and communication with Inventory Management. Consolidating tasks and assisting with the year‑end financial audit. Investigative analysis of accounting records to explain variances during financial statement review. Monthly account analysis of balance sheet and income statement accounts. Maintain and analyze prepaid and accrual accounts. Assist in the Fixed Asset process and requisition procedures. Maintain open communication with internal and external stakeholders. Ensure compliance with corporate policies and employment laws. Prepare audit requests and assist auditors with inquiries. Maintain internal planning and control procedures. Recommend improvements to strengthen controls and enhance business systems. Complete special projects ancillary to routine duties. Manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously. Competencies Analytical – manage complex information, design workflows, and understand accounting theory with US GAAP. Problem Solving – identify and resolve problems, analyze information, develop solutions, and conduct research. Technical Skills – continually build knowledge, learn new software, and handle internal control tasks. Other Duties As Assigned Variable duties may arise as needed. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (BA) from a four‑year college or university. 5+ years of related experience; prior management experience preferred. Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal controls. In‑depth knowledge of monthly, quarterly, and year‑end financial statements and variance analysis. Experience with state and local sales and use tax filings. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with proven teamwork ability. High attention to detail, multi‑tasking, and prioritization skills. Strong prioritization focused on results. Prior automotive or service industry experience strongly preferred. Proficient in MS Office (Excel expertise); experience with NetSuite a plus. Physical Job Requirements Continuous viewing from and inputting data to a computer screen. Long periods of sitting. Compensation and Benefits Salary range: $80,000.00–$95,500.00 per year. Compensation depends on qualifications, experience, and geographic location. Benefits include paid time off, medical, dental, vision, and a 401(k) match up to 7% (50% on the dollar).
