Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Night Shift | 12-hour shifts (shift start 6:45 AM) | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a 20-bed Neuro ICU setting with a 1:1–2 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Monitor and interpret telemetry and EKG strips; manage ventilator-dependent patients
• Care for patients with diagnoses including CVA, intracranial bleeds, neuro surgeries, craniotomies, neuro interventional radiology, and ventriculostomies; perform and assist with line insertions
• Utilize Cerner EMR for documentation and patient management
• Participate in bedside shift report and self-scheduling; may be asked to serve as charge nurse with break relief responsibilities
• Rotate holidays with core staff and be available for overtime and extra shifts as needed

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license valid in California
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Ability to read and interpret EKG strips
• Completion of a pre-employment competency exam (pass/fail, minimum score 80%, up to 2 attempts) required prior to contract signing

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Minimum 2 years of experience in a Neuro ICU setting preferred
• Familiarity with Cerner EMR
• Experience caring for stroke, craniotomy, and neuro interventional radiology patients
• Comfort working in a strong stroke program and comprehensive neuro center environment
