Bus Aide

Job Summary Job Description POSITION TITLE: Bus Aide JOB GOAL: To assist bus driver in safely transporting exceptional or handicapped students or students in an efficient and timely manner. REPORTS TO: Transportation Supervisor SUPERVISES: N/A PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with safe loading and unloading of students.
- Enforce safety rules for students.
- Monitor student behavior.
- Escort/assist students (door to door) to and from school bus if needed.
- Administer to the individual needs of the students as required.
- Assist driver in keeping bus clean and supplied with needs for transporting students.
- Be familiar, if assigned to special education students, each student's physical and emotional needs.
- Ensure that each student is secured (seatbelts, harnesses, and wheelchairs) as needed.
- Ensure all extra equipment is secured to avoid movement.
- Assist driver with emergency evacuation procedures when necessary.
- Interact with students and parents to learn the special needs of riders.
- Follow all policies and laws governing transportation of special needs children.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding school and work place matters.
- Model and maintain high ethical standards.
- Demonstrate initiative in the performance of assigned responsibilities.
- Respond to inquiries and concerns in a timely manner.
- Perform all tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position.
