Work Environment

The Physician Assistant will work onsite at our hospital in Laredo, Texas, where we serve a diverse patient population. This role offers a full-time schedule consisting of Monday through Friday, typically comprising 10-hour shifts, ensuring a work-life balance that allows for both professional dedication and personal time. The setting features a mix of inpatient admissions and outpatient consults, allowing for a well-rounded clinical experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Participate in a structured 3-week rotation consisting of one week of outpatient care, one week of inpatient management, and one week focused on post-procedure follow-ups.
• Manage a variable caseload of 8-17 patients daily during inpatient weeks, focusing on rounding, new consultations, and follow-ups on prior consults.
• Conduct independent assessments and treatments for patients in a hybrid model—50% independent clinic management and 50% shared visits with physicians for new patient evaluations and follow-ups, predominantly conducted virtually.
• Engage in comprehensive patient assessments by obtaining detailed histories, performing physical examinations, and analyzing clinical findings to formulate effective treatment plans.
• Order and interpret diagnostic studies tailored to patient evaluations, as well as manage the collection of specimens for routine lab tests.
• Facilitate patient care by coordinating physical therapy, occupational therapy, and other essential services as dictated by treatment plans.
• Assist in performing designated procedures under established protocols after demonstrating competency and gaining full informed consent.
• Collaborate with supervising physicians on complex cases and initiatives, including enlisting patients in approved investigational studies.
• Actively participate in continuous education and training programs to enhance clinical skills and knowledge of emerging therapies and practices.
• Ensure adherence to Joint Commission standards related to patient privacy, safety, and quality care delivery.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Our clinic serves a broad demographic within the community of Laredo. Patients typically present with a range of acute and chronic conditions requiring interventional radiology expertise. As a Physician Assistant, you will focus on delivering compassionate and tailored care aimed at optimizing patient outcomes and addressing their unique health concerns.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Physician Assistant studies or a related field.
• At least 1 year of experience as a Physician Assistant, preferably in a clinical or hospital setting, with exposure to interventional radiology or similar procedural environments.
• Current PA licensure or eligibility to practice in the state of Texas.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
• Demonstrate a commitment to patient care and an ability to manage time effectively within a fast-paced clinical setting.

Preferred Experience

While not mandatory, experience in a radiology or surgical setting will be advantageous. Proficiency in EHR systems and familiarity with telemedicine platforms are also preferred, given the current emphasis on virtual patient interactions.

Compensation and Benefits
