Senior Accountant Lead (up to $125k/yr)

Ledgent Finance and Accounting has a well established manufacturing partner located near the bloomington mn area needing to add to their senior accounting team!

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and bank reconciliations.
• Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure financial accuracy.
• Analyze financial data and investigate variances to support management decision-making.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting controls.
• Monitor project budgets, costs, revenue recognition, and gross profit margins.
• Oversee backlog reporting and identify billing opportunities or discrepancies.
• Serve as the lead accounting resource for managers, operations teams, sales teams, and leadership.
• Review vendor invoices and resolve billing discrepancies, overbillings, and cost allocation issues.
• Provide guidance on accounting processes and best practices.
• Support process improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and financial accuracy.
• Assist with training and mentoring junior accounting staff as needed.
• Analyze project and company financial performance metrics.
• Review accruals and gross profit adjustments related to commission calculations and reporting.
• Ensure proper coding and classification of expenses and revenues.
• Participate in audit preparation and documentation requests.
• Identify opportunities to strengthen accounting controls and streamline workflows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 8+ years of accounting experience, preferably with project, construction, manufacturing, or contract-based environments.
• Strong understanding of:
  • General Ledger Accounting
  • Month-End Close
  • Account Reconciliations
  • Accrual Accounting
• Experience with ERP systems such as Sage Intacct, Yardi, Spectrum, Dynamics AX, Great Plains, or similar.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally.
