Med Surg/Tele RN

Unit has 24 beds with MedSurg and Tele capability on all beds. The unit is heavy on Tele. Care is provided to adults, but travelers do not take pediatric patients. Pediatric patients are assigned to permanent staff. Candidates must possess strong neuro and cardiac skills. A minimum of two years of experience is required. ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications are required. PALS certification is preferred. Shifts are 12 hours with a guarantee of 36 hours per week. The unit has a cancellation policy of three per 13 weeks. The electronic medical record system used is Sunrise Allscripts. Support staff includes tele techs, charge nurses, unit clerks, and patient care technicians. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:5 during the day and 1:6 at night. Pediatric ratios are 1:4, also based on the level of acuity. Nurse managers do not provide direct patient care but conduct rounds. Staff may float to all Med Surge units and ICU, taking Med Surge overflow patients. A hospitalist is in-house 24/7. Respiratory therapists and pharmacy services are available 24/7. Scrub colors can be any color except all black. Scrubs are not provided.
