Education and/or Experience:

Master's degree (M.S.) from four year college or university; Speech/Lang Path teaching certificate.

Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumferences, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, extreme cold, and extreme heat.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Works cooperatively with school personnel to accomplish the goals and objectives of the local education agency.
2. Coordinates speech-language services with student services provided by other school personnel.
3. Maintains records of the speech-language program and prepares periodic reports as required.
4. Adheres to established rules, regulations, laws and appropriate ethical standards.
5. Conducts speech, language and hearing screenings.
6. Administers formal and informal (ongoing & curriculum-based) assessments.
7. Obtains additional diagnostic information from appropriate persons and available records for speech-language purposes.
8. Analyzes and interprets information to make recommendations regarding the need for speech-language services.
9. Provides appropriate information on an informal or formal basis regarding speech, language and hearing programs.
10. Engages in continuing education and professional growth activities related to speech-language-hearing and education.
11. Collaborates/consults with classroom teachers in the management of speechlanguage disorders.
12. Manages the facilities, materials and equipment, including assistive technology, necessary to the delivery of services.
13. Adjusts intervention strategies based upon student performance.
14. Participates in curriculum development programs as required.
15. Participates in faculty committees and the sponsorship of pupil activities.
16. Develops and uses instructional material suitable for verbal or visual instruction of pupils with a wide range of mental, physical, and emotional maturities.
17. Provides consultation to parents, teacher and other appropriate school personnel.
18. Completes procedural documentation appropriately.
19. Completes all paperwork, district and state special education forms, in a timely manner.
20. Works with regular classroom teacher to provide appropriate accommodations.
21. Other duties that may be assigned by the administrator
