Overview Austin Oaks Hospital (a UHS facility) is an 80‑bed psychiatric facility located in South Austin, 10 minutes from downtown. It offers a broad spectrum of psychiatric services for adults, including inpatient and outpatient programs for psychiatric treatment and substance abuse. Admissions Nurses are needed for a Night Shift (7 p.m. – 7 a.m.) plus additional shift differentials. Position Summary Admissions Registered Nurse (RN) – Weekend Nights (Friday, Saturday, Sunday: 7 p.m. – 7 a.m.) Respond to incoming calls for referrals and admissions. Provide assessments of patients’ psychiatric and medical status. Document all inquiries, referrals, and admissions accurately in the computer system and on proper forms. Ensure referral patient medical record information is complete and that nursing and clinical staff are updated on the patient’s history and condition. Copy, distribute, and prepare referral materials in unit charts as required. Assess, direct, and intervene in crisis situations. Provide leadership and direction to mental‑health technicians. Contribute to the treatment plan as a member of the interdisciplinary team. Administer medication and medical treatment as prescribed by the physician. Shift Differentials Mon‑Fri, Sat & Sun (7 a.m. – 3 p.m.) – Shift 1 offset: $0.00 Mon‑Fri, Sat & Sun (7 a.m. – 3 p.m.) – Shift 4 offset: $4.00 Mon‑Fri, Sat & Sun (3 p.m. – 11 p.m.) – Shift 2 offset: $2.25 Mon‑Fri, Sat & Sun (3 p.m. – 11 p.m.) – Shift 5 offset: $6.00 Mon‑Fri, Sat & Sun (11 p.m. – 7 a.m.) – Shift 3 offset: $4.00 Mon‑Fri, Sat & Sun (11 p.m. – 7 a.m.) – Shift 6 offset: $6.50 Qualifications Graduation from an accredited nursing program. Licensed by the Board of Nurse Examiners for Texas (or licensed in a compact state). One year of psychiatric nursing experience preferred. CPR and hospital de‑escalation certifications obtainable during orientation. Ability to complete new‑hire requirements—including a nationwide background check and pre‑employment drug screen. State and federal Office of the Inspector General check required.
