The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is looking for a Full-Time Mechanical Engineer GS-0830-12 to work at the 628th Civil Engineer Squadron at Joint Base Charleston in Charleston, SC. Our organizational goals and objectives ensure the most efficient, practical and economical design, development and construction of facilities and infrastructure to execute the facilities program and support the Joint Base installation mission. Recruitment Incentive may be offered Salary Range $89,508 - $116,362 Qualifications/Requirements U.S. Citizenship Required Obtain & maintain a Secret security clearance Education requirements: Degree accredited by ABET or combination of education and experience-- At least 2 years desired experience of mechanical engineering concepts, principles, and practices applicable to a broad range of engineering, construction management, life cycle management, etc. and related assignments At least 2 years desired experience of design and construction practices and techniques in establishing design parameters and preparing project justifications and specifications At least 2 years desired experience with related fields of work such as architectural, electrical, mechanical, structural, environmental and civil engineering sufficient to ensure that areas of overlapping responsibilities receive proper design considerations May be required to serve on Architect and Engineer boards May act as project liaison with the Army Corps of Engineers or other design agencies as required You must meet the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirements applicable to the duties of the position, current DAWIA certification is highly desired. Professional knowledge of mechanical engineering concepts, principles, and practices and familiarity with architectural and other engineering disciplines Knowledge of a broad range of engineering and construction standards, methods, practices and techniques, materials and equipment to determine compliance with federal, state and local codes and regulations; of standard contracting regulations, practices and procedures as it relates to facilities engineering Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental requirements as outlined in applicable standards, regulations and/or technical orders Knowledge of environmental principles, practices, procedures, laws, regulations and current legislative issues; of work classifications and the regulatory and statutory restrictions on the expenditures of appropriated and non-appropriated funds Knowledge of aesthetic and functional design techniques and skill in preparing project documentation, to include preliminary drawings, sketches and construction drawings; and technique/ Skill in drafting sufficient to convey design concepts and ideas and formulate working drawings To receive additional information about current and future job openings with AFCS via email notification, please subscribe at and sign up to “Get Career Updates.” AFCS is Equal Opportunity Employer.
