About the Role:

The Maintenance Technician Level I plays a critical role in ensuring the continuous and efficient operation of manufacturing equipment within a plastic molding production environment. This position focuses on performing routine mechanical and electromechanical maintenance tasks, troubleshooting machinery issues, and conducting thorough inspections to prevent downtime. The technician will work closely with production teams to maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems, interpret machine schematics, and support control circuitry repairs. By maintaining optimal machine performance, the role directly contributes to product quality, safety, and overall manufacturing productivity. This entry-level position offers an opportunity to develop technical expertise in plastic machinery operation and maintenance within a dynamic manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities:

• Perform routine mechanical and electromechanical maintenance on plastic molding machinery and related equipment.
• Inspect machinery regularly to identify wear, malfunctions, or potential failures and take corrective action as needed.
• Work from drawings, mechanical and pneumatic/hydraulic prints, electrical diagrams, and manufacturers’ printed instructions to troubleshoot and locate mechanical, hydraulic/pneumatic, and electrical problems in functional and control systems. Adjust, repair, or replace defective parts or materials. 
• Diagnose and troubleshoot issues in hydraulic and pneumatic systems to minimize production interruptions.
• Read and interpret machine schematics and control circuitry diagrams to guide repair and maintenance activities.
• Collaborate with production and engineering teams to support machine setup, adjustments, and preventive maintenance schedules.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance inspections of hydraulic/pneumatic valves, lines, connections, and pumps, and check the micro-preventive maintenance schedule.
• Verifies operation of machine sequence. Removes, cleans, and replaces main feed screw and barrel as required. Inspects parts while disassembled. 
• Assures all heater band elements are operable. Replaces worn-out units. 
• Rebuilds hydraulic valves and pumps as necessary.
• Uses mechanical maintenance tools, equipment, and machines as required. 
• Complies with all LOTO requirements.
• Assists in mold setting as needed.
• Performs facilities maintenance and new machinery installation/modification as required. 
• Adheres to all safety requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Minimum of 12 Months in a maintenance role with emphasis on manufacturing (Injection Molding preferred).
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic knowledge of mechanical maintenance and electromechanical equipment.
• Familiarity with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Ability to read and understand machine schematics and control circuitry diagrams.
• Prior experience or training in plastic machinery operation or plastic molding processes
• Knowledge of safety standards and best practices in manufacturing maintenance.
• Must be able to pass all pre-employment screenings.
• Knowledge and use of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and Outlook
• English language proficiency, including verbal and written communication.
• Ability to work overtime as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Technical certification or vocational training in industrial maintenance or related fields.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and maintenance software.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.

Physical Requirements: 

• Must be able to stand entire shift (8+ hrs.). 
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
• Requires manual dexterity.
• Moderate physical demand involving lifting and moving of materials and equipment. 
• Frequently moves from waist level to floor level.
