Accounting Manager

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join a growing organization in Northern New Jersey. This is a hands-on position for an accounting professional who is comfortable managing day-to-day accounting activities while supporting broader financial reporting and operational needs.

The Accounting Manager will be responsible for a range of accounting functions, with a particular focus on billing, accounts receivable, collections, accounts payable, and month-end close . The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working across multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day accounting activities, including accounts receivable and accounts payable.
• Prepare and issue customer invoices accurately and on schedule.
• Monitor accounts receivable aging and follow up on outstanding balances.
• Manage collection efforts and work to resolve billing or payment discrepancies.
• Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
• Assist with month-end close, including account reconciliations and journal entries.
• Prepare and review internal financial reports.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
• Support annual audits and respond to requests for financial documentation.
• Partner with internal teams to ensure accurate billing, cost tracking, and financial reporting.
• Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies and process issues.
• Maintain compliance with established accounting policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Prior accounting experience with responsibility for multiple areas of the accounting function.
• Hands-on experience with billing, accounts receivable, and collections .
• Experience with month-end close, reconciliations, and general ledger accounting.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous public accounting experience.
• CPA or progress toward CPA certification.
• Experience working in a project-based or contract-driven accounting environment.
