Teachers in the summer school program will earn: Teacher, Nurse, Librarian, and Counselor: $6,120 stipend which includes all pay for teaching, planning, training, setting up rooms, and Open Houses. Summer School sessions for grades 9-12 will begin as follows: Monday through Thursday for 14 days. Wednesday, June 3rd – Thursday June 25th 7:15am – 4:25pm Class periods: Class Period 1: 7:15am - 11:35am Lunch: 11:35am - 12:05pm Class Period 2: 12:05pm - 4:25pm Summer employment is contingent upon enrollment. MO Certification required: Theater/Drama K-12 Job Summary / Purpose To facilitate student achievement by helping students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible men and women. Duties and Responsibilities Facilitate student achievement. Meet and instruct assigned classes in the designated locations and times. Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students. Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students. Prepare for classes and provide written lesson plans upon request. Guide the learning process toward curriculum goals, establish clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects, and communicate them to students. Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the location and student needs. Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior. Monitor student achievement by assessing accomplishments regularly, providing progress reports, diagnosing learning disabilities with district specialists. Maintain accurate records per law, district policy, and administration regulation. Be available to students and parents outside the instructional day as required. Perform other duties as assigned, including implementing the district’s philosophy of education and protecting students, equipment, and facilities. Assist administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct, developing classroom rules, and maintaining order fairly. Plan and supervise assignments for teacher/building aides and volunteers, evaluating performance. Continuously improve professional competence through attendance at PDC activities and other professional development opportunities. Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree. Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Teaching Certification. MO certification in Theater/Drama K-12. Knowledge/Skills Proficient in preparing rigorous, interactive, and informative lesson plans. Proficient with Word, Excel, Power Point, Desktop Publisher, and database management. Works effectively with colleagues, parents, administrators, etc. Superior interpersonal skills for high energy/stress environment. Discretion and confidentiality with district requirements and Board of Education policies. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Self‑directed, highly motivated, and able to work independently. Physical Demands Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk, hear, reach, kneel, crouch, and lift up to 25 pounds; good vision and hearing are required. Work Environment / Conditions Majority of time in classroom; some outdoor work. Equipment / Tools / Materials Used Personal computer, copier, fax. Terms of Employment Assigned to a 190‑day work calendar; 36 hours and 40 minutes per week minimum; compensation and benefits as provided by the Board of Education.
