Duties / Responsibilities Facilitate student achievement. Example: Meets and instructs assigned classes in the designated locations and times. Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students. Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning appropriate to the maturity and interests of students. Prepares for classes and provides written evidence (lesson plan) upon request. Guides the learning process toward achievement of curriculum goals, establishing clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media according to location and student needs. Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior. Monitors student achievement. Example: Assesses accomplishments regularly and provides progress reports. Diagnoses learning disabilities with district specialists. Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and regulation. Stays available to students and parents outside instructional days when needed. Perform other duties as assigned. Example: Implement district philosophy, protect students and materials, assist administration, develop classroom rules, supervise aides and volunteers, attend professional development, attend staff meetings and committees. Minimum Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree and a Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Teaching Certification. Knowledge / Skills Proficient in preparing rigorous, interactive, exciting, and informative lesson plans. Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Desktop Publisher, and database management. Able to work effectively with colleagues, parents, administrators, and others. Superior interpersonal skills to facilitate an excellent educational experience in a high-energy/stress environment. Discretion and confidentiality with awareness of district requirements and Board of Education policies. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be self-directed, highly motivated, and able to work independently. Physical Demands Regularly stand, walk, sit, talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift up to 25 pounds. Vision and hearing requirements include close and distance vision, ability to focus and depth perception, normal conversation and phone conversation, and the ability to isolate voices in multiple conversations. Work Environment / Conditions Classroom environment majority of the time; occasional outdoor work. Equipment / Tools / Materials Used Personal computer, copier, fax. Required Personal Protective Equipment None Terms of Employment Assigned to 190‑day work calendar; 36 hours and 40 minutes per week minimum; compensation and benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, Life) as provided by the Board of Education. Benefits Summer school teachers must be properly certified in the appropriate content area. Teachers in the summer school program will earn a $6,120 stipend which includes all pay for teaching, planning, training, setting up rooms, and Open Houses. Schedule Monday through Thursday for 14 days. Wednesday, June 3rd – Thursday, June 25th. 7:15 am – 4:25 pm. Class Period 1: 7:15 am – 11:35 am. Lunch: 11:35 am – 12:05 pm.
