Become a part of our caring communityThe Director, Public Affairs & Strategy will lead high-priority, cross-functional work at the intersection of Humana’s business strategy, healthcare policy, and advocacy. This leader will own complex workstreams from initial framing through recommendation and execution, partnering directly with senior leaders to structure issues, develop policy positions, and build coordinated strategies that advance enterprise priorities.The ideal candidate is a highly strategic and structured leader with deep healthcare expertise, strong executive presence, and the judgment and emotional intelligence to influence and collaborate across the organization. This role requires an individual who can create clarity from ambiguity, operate with a high degree of ownership and independence, and translate complex business and policy issues into clear recommendations and disciplined execution. This role reports to the SVP, Strategy & Public Affairs.Key ResponsibilitiesLead complex workstreams end to end. Define scope, priorities, workplans, milestones, and decisions; anticipate needs and drive work through implementation with limited direction.Advise senior leaders. Frame complex business and policy issues, surface tradeoffs, synthesize perspectives, and translate insights into clear recommendations.Develop strategies to advance enterprise priorities. Connect healthcare policy developments to business objectives and build coordinated strategies across stakeholders, messaging, risks, and execution.Drive analysis and execution. Lead research, quantitative and qualitative analysis, and scenario planning while establishing clear accountability, timelines, and follow-through.Create executive-ready deliverables. Distill complex information into concise, high-quality presentations, briefings, memos, and decision materials.Lead through influence. Build trust and alignment across functions, navigate differing perspectives, manage external consulting partners, and maintain a high bar for rigor, quality, and results.Use your skills to make an impact Required QualificationsBA/BS degree; MBA or other relevant advanced degree preferred.7+ years of experience in management consulting, corporate strategy, healthcare strategy, enterprise transformation, public affairs strategy, or a similarly rigorous, high-performance environment.Deep knowledge of the U.S. healthcare industry, preferably including payer and/or provider experience.Proven ability to independently structure ambiguous problems, lead complex cross-functional work, synthesize quantitative and qualitative findings, and translate insights into actionable recommendations.Demonstrated ability to take full ownership of complex workstreams and drive execution with limited direction.Exceptional project leadership, executive communication, and stakeholder-management skills.Strong executive presence and demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders and stakeholders without formal authority.High emotional intelligence with the ability to build trust, navigate disagreement, and foster alignment across diverse perspectives.Sound judgment, intellectual curiosity, attention to detail, and comfort operating in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.Leadership AttributesSuccessful candidates will demonstrate:Strategic and structured: Creates clarity from ambiguity, approaches complex issues with a structured mindset, and connects policy developments to enterprise priorities.Ownership and execution: Takes full accountability for outcomes, anticipates needs, drives work forward with limited direction, and consistently delivers high-quality, synthesized work.Influential and collaborative: Builds trust, works effectively across organizational boundaries, navigates disagreement constructively, and creates alignment without relying on formal authority.Clear and concise: Distills complexity into the core insight, decision, and recommendation and communicates effectively with senior executives.Low ego, high standards: Collaborates openly, welcomes different perspectives, and puts enterprise outcomes ahead of personal ownership while maintaining a high bar for rigor, quality, and execution.Location & Travel:This role offers flexibility in location and may be performed remotely. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.$184,800 - $254,100 per yearThis job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan.
