Assistant Professor of Practice, BSN Program and CNA Program Coordinator The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) faculty member and Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Program Coordinator reports to the Chair of the Nursing Department. This is a 12-month, faculty position with dual responsibilities: teaching in the BSN program and coordinating the CNA program. The faculty member ensures course student learning outcomes are achieved through delivery of lecture content and supervision of nursing laboratory and clinical experiences. As CNA Program Coordinator, the faculty member ensures that the CNA program meets all state regulations, accreditation requirements, and workforce expectations while fostering high standards in entry‑level nursing education. The individual contributes to the mission and governance of Anna Maria College, curriculum development and evaluation, and the implementation of the systematic evaluation plan for both BSN and CNA programs. Essential Functions & Responsibilities Teaching Responsibilities (BSN & CNA): Promote high standards of academic achievement and integrity in assigned courses; Implement established course syllabi or develop new syllabi in accordance with College standards; Harmonize course content among sections of the same course; Review student work and provide timely feedback and grade reporting; Maintain documentation according to college and program policy; Engage in continuous development of effective instructional strategies; Hold regular office hours for student support and advising; Guide student advisees toward degree completion; Plan and implement clinical and lab learning experiences; Write letters of recommendation for students or alumni; Participate in professional development activities to maintain current licensure and knowledge in the field; Teach and support CNA courses as needed. Program Coordination Responsibilities (CNA Program): Oversee daily operations and coordination of the CNA program in compliance with Massachusetts Department of Public Health regulations; Ensure CNA curriculum meets certification and employment preparation standards; Monitor program effectiveness through student performance data and regulatory feedback; Maintain program documentation and submit reports to state agencies as required; Serve as liaison with state agencies and external partners regarding CNA program oversight; Support hiring, onboarding, and mentoring of CNA instructors; Ensure all instructional personnel meet licensure and training requirements; Coordinate CNA clinical placements and maintain affiliation agreements; Assist with CNA program marketing, admissions, and outreach efforts; Lead quality improvement initiatives and maintain program compliance and readiness. Service Responsibilities (BSN & CNA): Contribute to a collaborative, collegial environment within the department and across the institution; Participate in faculty development, training sessions, and campus activities; Use institutional systems and communication tools effectively; Follow all college policies and expectations as outlined in the Faculty Guidebook and Faculty Handbook; Serve on departmental, college, and faculty governance committees. Research Responsibilities (BSN): Promote research, innovation, and scholarly activity in nursing education; Encourage a culture of evidence‑based practice and academic inquiry; Seek opportunities for program development through grants or academic partnerships; Implement teaching strategies that address diverse learning needs and promote student engagement. Expected Results The faculty member and CNA Program Coordinator will ensure that both BSN and CNA students are well‑prepared to meet program learning outcomes and licensure/certification eligibility requirements. BSN students will be equipped to sit for the NCLEX‑RN, while CNA students will be eligible for Massachusetts Nurse Aide Certification. Supervisory Responsibility Supervise and mentor BSN and CNA students in academic, clinical, and lab environments; Coordinate and support CNA instructional personnel; Oversee CNA student clinical compliance and progression. Contacts Engage with prospective, current, and former students for recruitment and program feedback; Maintain relationships with clinical agencies, community partners, and regulatory agencies; Collaborate with internal departments to support program goals and compliance efforts. Qualifications / Requirements Necessary to Reach Acceptable Performance Hold an advanced degree in Nursing; e.g., an earned master’s degree or doctorate in nursing or equivalent doctoral degree (Preferred). Hold an unencumbered Massachusetts Registered Nurse license in good standing. Possess a minimum of two years full‑time nursing experience (or its equivalent) within the last five years with evidence of clinical competence in the area of clinical instruction. Have at least one year of experience as a registered nurse in a long‑term care/nursing home setting. Maintain expertise appropriate to teaching responsibilities. Teaching experience in nursing and/or nurse aide training programs preferred; Familiarity with Massachusetts Department of Public Health regulations related to CNA education; Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills; Current CPR certification and required clinical health documentation.
