About the Role

The Company is seeking a Chief Accounting Officer or Director of Accounting to lead the modernization and scaling of its accounting organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for building, professionalizing, and scaling accounting operations, systems, and talent to ensure the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of financial reporting. This hands-on leadership role requires a strategic approach to organizational building, team leadership, and process and systems modernization. The role also involves driving the design and implementation of accounting processes, systems, and controls, and partnering with finance, FP&A, and business leadership to align accounting operations with business objectives. Candidates for the Chief Accounting Officer position should have a Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, with a CPA certification and a strong preference for those with working knowledge of FAS 91 and CECL accounting rules. A minimum of 12 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role, is required. The ideal candidate will have a background in the mortgage, lending, or financial services industry, and experience in a growth-stage or scaling organization. Key skills include executive leadership, team building, process improvement, and a strong understanding of US GAAP accounting, financial reporting, and close management. The role demands a professional with a process automation and optimization mindset, and experience in ERP and accounting systems implementation.
