Navarro Research and Engineering is recruiting an AI Automation Engineer (3878) in Oak Ridge, TN. This is an onsite position at our corporate office.

Navarro Research & Engineering is seeking an AI Automation Engineer to design and develop intelligent automation solutions using Microsoft technologies. This role will focus on building AI agents and workflow automations that streamline corporate processes, integrate enterprise systems, and enhance productivity across the organization.

The ideal candidate will combine software development experience with knowledge of Microsoft Power Platform, Azure AI, and Copilot Studio to deliver scalable, secure, and business-driven AI solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop AI-powered automation solutions and agents to streamline business processes across Microsoft 365 and enterprise systems
• Build and maintain Microsoft Copilot Studio agents and intelligent workflows supporting Teams, Outlook, SharePoint, and other applications
• Develop automated workflows using Power Automate to eliminate manual tasks and improve operational efficiency
• Translate business requirements into technical AI solutions, including automation logic, integrations, and data flows
• Integrate AI agents with enterprise data sources, APIs, and external systems to enable cross-platform automation
• Design and manage data models (Dataverse, SQL, SharePoint) to support AI workflows and agent memory/state
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize AI systems, ensuring reliability, performance, and security
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, IT teams, and leadership to identify high-value automation opportunities
• Maintain documentation, governance controls, and best practices for AI and automation solutions
• Stay current on emerging AI technologies, Microsoft Copilot capabilities, and automation trends

Requirements

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field
• 3+ years of experience in software development, automation, or systems integration
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI)
• Experience developing or integrating AI / machine learning / generative AI solutions
• Strong understanding of APIs, REST services, and data integration techniques
• Experience working with enterprise systems and business process automation

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Microsoft Copilot Studio, Azure AI, or large language models (LLMs)
• Knowledge of AI agent frameworks or orchestration concepts (multi-step workflows, decision logic, etc.)
• Familiarity with Python, JavaScript, or similar programming languages
• Experience in government, DOE, or regulated environments (nice-to-have for you)
• Microsoft certifications (Power Platform, Azure AI, etc.
