For exact salary information please refer to the current salary schedule, County Website DEFINITION Under general supervision, to lead and supervise Behavioral Health staff and program activities; to provide specialized and intensive behavioral health treatment, counseling, therapy, and services for department clients; to schedule officer-of-the-day duties; to be responsible for an assigned facility, its programs and its security; to serve as a liaison with community, regional, or state agencies; and to do related work as required. This classification is a for cause, exempt position. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS This is a site supervisor position. Incumbents provide site supervision and leadership at a Behavioral Health Department service site in the county. REPORTS TO Deputy or Deputy Director of Behavioral Health systems Administrator or other management staff as assigned. CLASSIFICATIONS SUPERVISED Sr./Behavioral Health Nurse, Health Assistant, Clinician I/II, Specialist I/II, other staff as assigned. Examples of Duties Serves as a site supervisor assisting with service and productivity monitoring at a department service site; evaluate performance of subordinates, writes and conducts performance evaluations for assigned staff; makes case assignments; performs or assigns officer-of-the-day duties; provides crisis intervention services on the telephone and with walk-in clients including after hours crisis on call/stand by work; provides staff consultation on complex and difficult cases; provides direct specialized and intensive behavioral health treatment counseling therapy and services to individual clients; performs client evaluations, developing treatment and service plans; serves as a liaison for the County upon request, with regional, and state committees and/or organizations; facilitates staff utilization of community resources; and implements specific site policies and procedures related to service delivery, records maintenance, case documentation, building security, site coverage, computer access, other issues; and other duties as assigned. Behavioral Health Nurse essential Functions counsels regarding health status, treatment plans, psychoactive medications, benefits, and side effects of medications, disease preventions, and basic living skills; provides health education regarding personal hygiene, nutrition, and care and treatment of health problems; teaches and demonstrates client care to family members and others; consults with other Behavioral Health staff regarding health care issues and client treatment plans; administers injections; oversees client clinic care; orders medications and stores them in a secure area; maintains a variety of client health and medication records; refers individuals and families to appropriate agencies and resources, as necessary; conducts health appraisals and follow-ups on findings; confers with physicians, other professionals, and concerned parties regarding the needs of clients with mental disabilities; prepares reports and maintains records for treatment, client appraisals, and development of treatment plans Knowledge Of Thorough knowledge of psychological and social aspects and characteristics of emotional disturbances and mental illness. Methods and techniques for conducting psychological and social assessments of individuals. Principles and methods of individual and group counseling. Human behavior and development. Available community resources for behavioral health services. Problems and needs of the seriously mentally ill. Laws and regulations regarding behavioral health and social service programs, especially those pertaining to an individual’s legal rights. Basic knowledge of medications and psychotropic drugs used in behavioral health treatments. Principles of fiscal control. Principles and development of the rehabilitation options within the Short-Doyle Act, Medi-Cal Services, Coordinated Care, and Managed Care Systems. Behavioral Health Nurse Principles, methods, and practices of general and psychiatric nursing. Medical terminology. Community resources available for support of individuals in various levels of care. Normal and abnormal growth and development patterns. Program planning, evaluations and development principles. Principles of lead direction, program and work coordination, and training. Desired Skills Supervise program activities at a Behavioral Health Services site. Provide team leadership and facilitate team building.
