FLSA STATUS:  Non-Exempt/Hourly

CLASSIFICATION:  Part-Time Regular

JOB SUMMARY:  Assesses participant’s job readiness and employment needs and matches to employment opportunities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Interviews participants to assess service needs.
2. Jointly with the customer, develops a career plan that identifies participant interests, goals, needs, and intervention and placement strategy.
3. Identifies problem areas and service gaps and assures implementation of career plan.
4. Assesses customer’s job readiness and recommends strategies to enhance their marketability.
5. Identifies and secures employment opportunities that match the skills and interests of assigned program participants.
6. Participates actively in all job search and placement events and activities as assigned promoting teamwork, professionalism, courtesy, and customer satisfaction
7. Conducts job readiness workshops in areas such as job seeking skills, effective interviewing techniques, resume writing, workplace conduct and appearance, etc.
8. Performs employment verification and retention for participants. This includes: employer visits, home visits and extensive telephone and mail communication.
9. Conducts follow-up activities with assigned participants to ensure the needs of the individual and employer are met.
10. Maintains knowledge of current labor market and occupational trends.
11. Implements prescribed program-related procedures; provides ongoing career coaching and serves as a liaison between customers, service providers and employers.
12. Manages a comprehensive caseload, ensures accurate documentation of case records.
13. Makes recommendations to management on policy and procedures changes.
14. Uses personal computer to input information and maintain case reporting in MIS database and performs other related duties as assigned.
15. Contributes to the team effort by performing other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:  None

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Bachelor’s degree in a human services, related field or equivalent experience in Employment and Training Programs. One to two years of experience in recruitment, employment, training, marketing or a related field. 
2. Bilingual language skills in English/Spanish.
3. Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate and build professional relationships with employers and program participants.
4. Computer skills necessary to utilize word processing and maintain required documentation. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access) and online sourcing tools with functional knowledge of internet use for search platforms.
5. Mental ability to handle pressures related to meeting placement goals and dealing with multiple individuals from diverse backgrounds and varying levels of need.
6. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule.
7. Must possess a valid Michigan Driver's License. Incumbent must also have reliable transportation.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit for extended periods of time, and have sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate a phone, computer keyboard, and other office equipment. Must be able to lift a minimum of 10 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:  The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. = - This job operates in a normal office environment with a noise level, which is at times, moderately loud with little discomfort due to noise, dirt, dust and the like. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
