HER Campaign

Job Description

Job Description:\n\nJob Title: Behavioral Health Technician(BHT)-Overnight\nType and FLSA Status: Non-Exempt \nReports To: Clinical Director \nLast updated: 08.2026\n\nABOUT HER CAMPAIGN\nHER Campaign is a faith-based nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting individuals impacted by substance use disorders, trauma, and co-occurring mental health needs, including survivors of human trafficking. Since our founding in 2016, HER Campaign has supported individuals through crisis intervention, stabilization, and various stages of recovery and restoration.\n\nOur mission is to empower individuals to heal, grow, and discover purpose through a continuum of care that integrates safe environments, trauma-informed practices, therapeutic support, spiritual support, and community connection. We are committed to creating environments where individuals can stabilize physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually while being supported in their journey toward healing, recovery, and long-term restoration.\n\nRooted in the belief that “Hospitality Comes First,” HER Campaign fosters a culture of dignity, respect, compassion, accountability, and excellence. We believe every individual deserves to be treated with honor and provided with the support, resources, and opportunities necessary to pursue healing and a future of hope.\n\nThrough its affiliated licensed entities, HER Campaign supports the development and operation of substance use disorder and related supportive services designed to meet the needs of individuals with substance use disorders, including individuals with co-occurring mental health needs. Programs may also serve individuals with trauma histories and other complex needs, including survivors of human trafficking. Services are provided through appropriately licensed entities in accordance with applicable state licensing requirements, regulatory standards, payer requirements, and evidence-based practices, including the ASAM Criteria when applicable.\n\nHER Campaign provides mission alignment, organizational leadership, administrative infrastructure, and operational support to strengthen the delivery of safe, effective, compassionate, and person-centered services across its programs and locations.\n\nPROGRAM PHILOSOPHY\nHER Campaign supports trauma-informed, person-centered, strengths-based, and holistic recovery environments that recognize the integration of mental, emotional, physical, social, and spiritual well-being.\n\nPrograms are designed to meet individuals where they are and provide appropriate support based on their needs, goals, level of care, and recovery journey. Services are delivered in a manner that promotes dignity, safety, accountability, personal responsibility, connection, and hope.\n\nLicensed substance use disorder services are provided through affiliated licensed entities in accordance with applicable state licensing requirements, regulatory standards, payer requirements, and evidence-based practices, including the ASAM Criteria when applicable.\n\nSpiritual support may be incorporated into services and activities consistent with the individual's preferences and goals. Participation in spiritual activities is voluntary and client-centered.\n\nPOSITION OVERVIEW \nAt HER Campaign, the role of the Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) - Overnight serves the functions commonly identified as a Rehabilitation Aide (RA) within ASAM Level 3.3 Clinically Managed High-Intensity residential treatment programs. This position is responsible for maintaining overnight resident supervision, facility safety, and environmental monitoring within a structured residential milieu. Staff in this position are required to remain awake, alert, and actively engaged in supervision and facility monitoring throughout the entire shift. BHTs play a key role in supporting individuals with substance use disorders, co-occurring behavioral health conditions, and those who have survived human trafficking and exploitation by facilitating daily program operations, maintaining a structured therapeutic environment and assisting with the implementation of treatment-related support activities and recovery-oriented services as identified by qualified clinical staff and delegated by the Clinical Director or other qualified behavioral health professional.\n\nThe BHT role is a non-clinical support position that implements, supports, and reinforces treatment plans developed by licensed or qualified clinical staff and does not independently diagnose, assess, or provide clinical treatment. Working under the direction of the Clinical Director and the program management team, BHTs provide compassionate, trauma-informed, person-centered care that promotes safety, stability, recovery, dignity, and personal growth. As part of an interdisciplinary treatment team, BHTs help create a recovery-oriented therapeutic residential environment that supports clients engagement, accountability, and progress towards individual treatment goals. \n\nBecause ASAM 3.3 services are designed for individuals experiencing significant cognitive, emotional, behavioral, or functional impairments related to substance use and co-occurring conditions, BHTs provide consistent structure, supervision, coaching, redirection, and reinforcement of support activities and recovery skills throughout the entire shift.\n\nBHTs are responsible for maintaining a safe, supportive, and structured living environment; supervising daily activities and resident interactions; supporting life skills development; observing and documenting client behaviors, participation, observe and document resident self-administration of medications and provide medication observation support in accordance with physician orders, organizational policy, and applicable regulations. BHTs do not independently administer medications unless specifically trained and authorized under state law and organizational policy; facilitating recovery-oriented and therapeutic activities; conducting routine safety monitoring; and helping individuals engage in treatment, recovery planning, and program expectations.\n\nThe BHT serves as a frontline support professional, modeling healthy behaviors, professional boundaries, emotional regulation, and recovery-focused living while helping residents develop the skills necessary to achieve stabilization, sustain recovery, and successfully transition to greater independence within the community. Through consistent engagement, observation, and communication with clinical staff, the BHT contributes to the delivery of high-quality residential treatment services that align with ASAM criteria, trauma-informed care principles, and all applicable Montana licensing and Medicaid requirements.\n\nThe purpose of this role is to ensure safety, continuity of operations, and stabilization of the residential environment during overnight hours for individuals receiving behavioral health and recovery services.\n\nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES \n\nDirect Care & Resident Support \n\n \n Provide direct, trauma-informed care and daily support to residents in both individual and group settings. \n \n Maintain a safe, respectful, and empowering environment for all residents, ensuring trauma-informed practices are upheld at all times. \n \n Conduct routine resident safety checks, attendance verification, and environmental monitoring to promote safety, security, and program compliance.\n \n Observe and document medication self-administration and assist with medication observation procedures in accordance with organizational policy, physician orders, and applicable regulations.\n \n Assist with structured psychoeducational, recovery-support, recreational, and skill-building activities as assigned, trained, and supervised by qualified staff.\n \n Support residents in following individualized treatment goals, recovery plans, and continuing care recommendations established by qualified clinical staff.\n \n Assist with grocery shopping, meal prep, inventory, and ordering supplies as needed\n \n Reinforce treatment goals, recovery skills, coping strategies, and healthy living practices identified within resident treatment plans.\n \n Support residents in developing activities of daily living (ADLs), independent living skills, and community reintegration skills.\n \n Transport clients as authorized by program policy, ensuring safety protocols and documentation requirements are followed.\n\nDocumentation & Compliance \n\n \n Complete timely, accurate, and objective documentation of resident interactions, objective observations, support activities, and significant events in accordance with organizational policies and documentation standards within scope of training.\n \n Maintain up-to-date records of resident support activities, behavioral observations, shift documentation, and incident reports.\n \n Communicate regularly with clinical and medical staff regarding residents' treatment plans and status. \n \n Maintains confidentiality of substance use disorder treatment information in accordance with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and organizational confidentiality policies, including appropriate handling of protected health information and release of information requirements.\n\nIntake & Admission Process\n\n \n Assist with intake and admission processes under the direction of clinical and program staff, including resident orientation, completion of non-clinical admission paperwork, property inventory, and facility orientation.\n \n Assist with property inventory and belongings searches in accordance with organizational policy and safety procedures.\n \n Support admission-related logistics, including transportation coordination and general program orientation activities.\n \n Clinical assessments, diagnosis, and treatment planning are completed exclusively by qualified clinical staff.\n\nCollaboration & Communication \n\n \n Participate in team meetings and ongoing training to support professional development and quality care. \n \n Maintain open communication with supervisors, clinicians, and other interdisciplinary team members. \n \n Promptly report incidents or concerns to leadership and participate in investigations as needed. \n\nAdministrative & Facility Support \n\n \n Perform general administrative duties including answering phones, filing, scanning, and faxing.\n \n Assist with maintaining organized medical records and supporting documentation\n \n Support day-to-day facility needs and program operations as directed.\n \n Assist with structured recreational, milieu, and recovery-support activities involving facility animals and outdoor spaces, as directed by clinical and program staff and in accordance with resident treatment plans and organizational policy.\n\nCrisis Intervention Responsibilities\n\n \n Utilize approved de-escalation and crisis intervention techniques within the employee’s level of training and established program protocols to maintain resident safety and reduce behavioral escalation.\n \n Immediately report safety concerns, suspected abuse or neglect, self-harm concerns, elopement risks, medical concerns, and other critical incidents according to organizational policy and reporting requirements.\n\n \nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES -
