Phlebotomist II - Float

Pay Range: $22.79hr - $24.41hr


Job Overview:


The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) represents the face of the organization to patients seeking health routine support or insights into life-defining health decisions. The PSR II draws quality blood samples from patients and prepares specimens for lab testing following established practices and procedures. The PSR II maintains direct contact with patients, creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence while explaining procedures and drawing blood specimens in a skillful, safe, and accurate manner. The candidate will demonstrate leadership behaviors while focusing on process excellence skills and sensitivity to the confidentiality and accuracy of patient information. Successful applicants may be assigned to a physician's office, a patient service center, or as business needs dictate.


Responsibilities:


Under the direction of the area supervisor, perform daily activities accurately and on time.


Maintain a safe and professional environment.

• Perform with confidence both the forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties following established practices and procedures.
• Perform verification of patient demographic information and initials, including patient signature post-venipuncture to verify tubes were labeled in their presence and that the name on the label is correct.
• Maintain required records and documentation.
• Demonstrate organizational commitment and promote a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the public in general.

Requirements:

• Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision.
• Excellent phlebotomy skills including pediatric and geriatric collections.
• Flexible and available based on staffing needs, which includes weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime.
• Committed to all policies and procedures including dress code, employee health and safety, and guiding principles.
• Ability to make decisions based on established procedures and exercise good judgment.
• Must possess reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and a clean driving record.
• Travel and flexible hours required to work multiple locations and cover at patient service center or in-office phlebotomy locations with minimal notice.
• Capable of handling multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
• Demonstrate superior customer focus, open and transparent communication with peers, supervisors, and patients, and the ability to accelerate and embrace change.

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Medical training such as Medical Assistant or Paramedic training is preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification is preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington).

Work Experience:

• 1-3 years of phlebotomy experience is required, inclusive of pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
• 2 years of experience in a Patient Service Center environment is preferred.
• Customer service experience in a retail or service environment is strongly preferred.
• Experience with keyboard and data entry.
