Area Manufacturing Excellence Leader (AMEL)Oglethorpe, GAPay Rate: $121,300 - $148,300Multiple factors, including individual experience, skills and abilities will determine where an employee is ultimately placed in the pay range.Category/Shift: Salaried Full-TimeThis position reports to the Manager of Manufacturing Excellence. The incumbent will serve as a member of the Area Operational Team and will be responsible for sustaining and growing a culture of Manufacturing Excellence to deliver year-over-year cost reductions.About The Role:The key accountabilities listed below are not to be considered all-inclusive; a team member may be required to perform additional tasks, as directed, based on changing business needs of the company.Demonstrate leadership around safety, support broad-based participation in the mill's safety processes and proceduresProvide leadership to the area operating team to focus on strategic cost reduction initiativesAs the area owner of the Cost Reduction elements, the person in this position will: Lead the Cost Reduction Roadmap process in their areaAssume area responsibility for: Cost reduction identification processesStrategy deploymentTraining and certifying Six Sigma White and Yellow belt (Manufacturing and Advance Problem Solving: MAPS) candidatesWork closely with the finance department to develop annual and 5-year budgetsCoordinate use of the Lean Six Sigma toolbox (Facilitation, Six Sigma, Kaizen, Advance Analytics) to address mill issues and capitalize on opportunitiesChampion resolution of area operating issuesDevelop and nurture a team-based organization committed to employee participation and teamworkCoach and mentor department process engineers, interns, and co-op job performance and career developmentManage and control departmental costs within budgetProvide support for project management and/or outage management during annual outagesQuality ExpectationsEnsure an understanding of quality policy and support efforts for a positive customer experience.Aid in the execution of mill-wide quality efforts as needed to help maintain mill quality standards.About You: Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesMinimum of a Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Pulp & Paper engineering or related field highly preferred4+ years' experience in a manufacturing setting (paper or chemical preferred)Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferredAbility to excel with minimal supervision in a team environmentDemonstrated written and verbal communication, problem solving, time management, conflict resolution, and task group facilitation skillsStrong computer knowledge and skills that include experience with spreadsheets, word processing, and MinitabCompetencies: Process managementDealing with ambiguityCommand skillsAction orientedPriority settingResults orientedCustomer focusManagerial courageAbout Global Cellulose Fibers (GCF)Our GCF business helps customers transform renewable cellulose fibers into essential everyday products.
