Job Description

This 3rd shift Machine Operator role focuses on operating EDM equipment to produce precision components in a controlled manufacturing environment. You set up and run machines, perform in-process inspections, and collaborate closely with engineering and supervisory staff to ensure product integrity and quality. You follow established standard operating procedures and support the development of process documentation to maintain consistent and reliable production.

Responsibilities

• Operate EDM machines to produce high-quality components according to production specifications and standards.
• Perform complete equipment set-up, including loading materials, configuring machine parameters, and verifying readiness for production.
• Conduct in-process inspections using microscopes and other tools to ensure parts meet quality and dimensional requirements.
• Work directly with engineers and supervisors to maintain product integrity and resolve any process or quality issues.
• Collaborate with engineers to develop, refine, and maintain process documentation and work instructions.
• Follow and adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures and manufacturing guidelines throughout each shift.
• Use computer systems and Excel to document findings, record production data, and support machine set-up and process tracking.
• Communicate clearly with team members and leadership regarding status updates, issues, and improvement opportunities.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, supporting cleanroom and manufacturing best practices as required.
• Support limited overtime needs when necessary to meet production goals.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 23 years of manufacturing experience, specifically in machine operation or technician roles.
• Hands-on experience operating manufacturing equipment, including EDM machines or similar production machinery.
• Prior microscope experience for detailed inspection and verification of small or intricate components.
• Proficiency with computers and Excel to document findings, record production data, and assist with machine set-up.
• Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with engineers, supervisors, and team members.
• Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures consistently and accurately.
• Comfort working on 3rd shift hours (approximately 10:30 p.m. 6:00 a.m.).

• Background in SMT operations, rework, or related machine operator roles.

Work Environment

This position is on 3rd shift, with typical hours from approximately 10:30 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. You work in a manufacturing setting that may include cleanroom areas, SMT equipment, microscopes, and other production machinery. The environment emphasizes adherence to standard operating procedures, accurate documentation using computers and Excel, and close collaboration with engineering and supervisory staff. The facility focuses on maintaining a clean, organized workspace and a structured, process-driven production atmosphere.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Carlsbad, CA.

The pay range for this position is $23.10 - $25.30/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
