Description: See attached job description Job Summary: Provide a comprehensive physical education program for special education students who qualify for
specialized Adapted Physical Education services. Develop or modify curricula and prepare lessons and other
instructional materials to match student ability levels. Work in self-contained, team, departmental, or itinerant
capacity as assigned. Qualifications: Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
Valid Texas Physical Education teaching certificate with required special education endorsement
Certified Adapted Physical Educators (CAPE) National Examination preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of the special needs of students in the assigned area
Knowledge of the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee process and Individual
Education Plan (IEP) goal setting process and implementation
Knowledge of how to adapt curriculum and instruction for special needs
Effective communication skills
Experience:
Two years of teaching experience (special education preferred) Attachment(s):
