RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises auditors for compliance with internal controls and prudent business practices. Oversees and helps manage the entire audit process, from entrance conference to the exit interview. Reviews and assists auditors with written documentation and final report for clear and concise reporting. Assists department manager in developing audit programs to be followed by audit staff. Adapts to unfamiliar areas and quickly utilizes the data available from unique and diverse systems. Demonstrates consistently the ability to manage a staff of field auditors and build on prior experience. Excels in the use of Lawson, Lawson SAS, Excel, Word, Access database, and email downloading. Converses with audiences of differing financial/accounting backgrounds. Analyzes and parses the audit workload into logical and manageable tasks. Reconciles and balances financial statements and accounting records. Serves as a liaison between schools and the Business Division. Handles various job responsibilities/duties and is detailed oriented. Researches, analyzes, and audits accounting and fiscal data, records, and reports. Complies with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements. Performs any other duties as assigned. Qualifications The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform this job successfully. Education: A bachelor’s degree. Degree or formal training in accounting or business preferred. Experience: Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in government accounting, finance, or business (accounting, finance, bookkeeping, Student Information System data processing, internal auditing, etc.). A high school diploma, vocational or GED with business experience may substitute for college course work on the basis of two (2) years of experience for each year of required college. Language Skills: Reads and interprets general business and professional journals, technical procedures, or regulations. Writes reports, correspondence, and manuals. Effectively presents and responds to questions from managers and the public. Mathematical Skills: Calculates figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Applies concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Reasoning Ability: Solves practical problems and deals with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Interprets a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Computer Skills: Microsoft Office and district data systems. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Physical Activities: Standing, walking, sitting, handling, keyboarding, talking, and hearing. Lifting Demands: Up to 10 pounds.
