Project Manager- Wastewater

Apex Companies, a leading engineering and environmental consulting firm in New England, is seeking a Project Manager to lead wastewater engineering projects across Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Connecticut. The role is hybrid, with travel to client sites. Responsibilities Manage project implementation with the assigned project team and follow all company policies and operating procedures. Keep the client informed of project status and provide management, advice, and support to team members. Initiate projects by developing proposals, scopes of work, and project budgets for approval by the Principal. Complete project initiation documents that include detailed scope, budget, and schedule. Supervise and direct technical staff, providing training seminars, guidance during execution, and bringing new technical developments in-house. Consult with other technical staff and Project Managers on wastewater challenges and provide independent technical reviews. Ensure technical accuracy through regular communications, review of plans, specifications, reports, and calculations. Track all project costs, including labor and expenses, and ensure invoices are issued to the client in a timely manner in accordance with company policy. Other tasks may include proposal preparation, participating in project interviews, attending public meetings, developing fee proposals, preparing contracts, and presenting information to new and future clients. Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Engineering with 9 years of related experience with increasing responsibility, or a master’s degree with 8 years of related experience. Registered Professional Engineer or other relevant professional registration in relevant state(s) (or ability to obtain). Demonstrated ability to work effectively with clients, staff, subconsultants, and contractors through effective leadership. Strong writing and verbal communication skills. Strong understanding of state and federal regulatory framework and experience interacting with regulators in the local and technical areas where Apex does work. Valid driver’s license.
