Compensation: $90,000 - $100,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications

Position Summary

This is a 0.5 FTE position, anticipating 18.5hrs per week. The Assistant Dean for Graduate Medical Education (GME) and Continuing Medical Education (CME) provides strategic and operational support for GME and CME at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science (RFUMS) and Chicago Medical School (CMS).

Reporting to the Associate Dean for GME and CME and Designated Institutional Official (DIO), the Assistant Dean supports the administration, accreditation, continuous improvement, and growth of GME programs and serves as a key operational leader for the institutional CME program.

The Assistant Dean works collaboratively with the Dean, Associate Dean/DIO, Program Directors, faculty, residents and fellows, the CME Committee, clinical affiliates, and university leadership to advance educational excellence, regulatory compliance, and institutional priorities.

Who We Are

Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science (RFUMS) is a six-college graduate health sciences university dedicated to the interprofessional education of health and biomedical professionals. Chicago Medical School (CMS), the original college of the six, has been educating physicians and furthering biomedical research for more than 100 years. Established in 1912, the founders built a combined medical school and hospital where working men and women could study medicine at night.

As a community-based institution, CMS students experience a variety of clinical environments and models; including, inner-city and suburban hospitals, the James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center that serves U.S. military personnel, as well as private clinics and practice settings. Training focuses on positioning patients at the center of care and as an active member of the healthcare team. During student didactic training, CMS’ simulation labs allow students to sharpen their interactive and communication skills and develop critical reasoning. Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Graduate Medical Education (GME):

As an institutional GME leader, and in conjunction with the Associate Dean for GME and CME, you will:

• Support the Associate Dean/DIO in the administration and continuous improvement of institutional GME programs.
• Support ACGME institutional and program accreditation activities, including reporting, documentation, site visits, and follow-up.
• Provide operational support and resources to residency and fellowship Program Directors and Coordinators.
• Assist with GME policies, procedures, committees, data collection, reporting, and program evaluation.
• Support initiatives related to resident and fellow education, engagement, professional development, and well-being.
• Assist with the development of new residency and fellowship programs and opportunities for program growth.
• Support GME budget planning, resource management, and operational needs in collaboration with the Associate Dean/DIO.
• Coordinate GME-related activities and communication with clinical affiliates and other institutional partners.
• Identify and implement opportunities to improve GME processes, communication, and educational outcomes.

Continuing Medical Education (CME)

The Assistant Dean supports the institutional CME program in collaboration with the Associate Dean, CME Committee, faculty, clinical affiliates, and university leadership.

• Assist with the development and implementation of CME strategy, policies, and procedures.
• Support ACCME accreditation and compliance activities.
• Coordinate the planning, implementation, and evaluation of live, virtual, online, and enduring CME activities.
• Work with the CME Committee and faculty to identify professional practice gaps and educational needs.
• Monitor and evaluate CME activities and use outcomes to support continuous improvement.
• Assist with CME budget management, grants, contracts, and revenue-generating activities.
• Support development of new CME programs, partnerships, and marketing strategies.
• Maintain appropriate CME documentation, records, and reports.

Faculty Responsibilities

All faculty members are expected to participate in activities appropriate to their faculty role, which may include teaching, scholarly activity, and service. Responsibilities may include instruction, assessment, mentoring, scholarship, research, committee service, recruitment, and professional service, as appropriate to the faculty track.

Required Education & Experience

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in medical education, GME, CME, and a related academic healthcare setting.
• Eligible for faculty appointment at the appropriate academic rank.
• Experience with educational program development, administration, evaluation, or accreditation.
• Strong project management, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, faculty, trainees, administrators, and external partners.
• Must clear a background check.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Knowledge

• Understanding of ACGME and ACCME accreditation requirements and processes.
• Understanding of medical education program development, assessment, and evaluation.
• Familiarity with GME operations and regulatory requirements.

Skills

• Strong leadership, administrative, financial, and project management skills.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to interact effectively with senior leadership and represent the University with external institutions and organizations.
• Marketing and program development skills, including the ability to identify and implement opportunities for growth.
• Proficiency with Learning Management Systems and ACCME PARS.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex initiatives, analyze program outcomes, and implement continuous improvement strategies.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with ACGME-accredited GME programs.
• Experience with ACCME accreditation and CME administration.
• Experience supporting residency/fellowship programs or Program Directors.
• Experience with program evaluation, quality improvement, and educational data.
• Experience working with clinical affiliates or health system partners.
