Find out more at Job Details Position: Family Advocate Job Type: Part‑time, Temporary Hours: Hourly (Grade 10), starting at $24 per hour based on experience Schedule: Hybrid – on‑site at IRCO Main Office, 10301 NE Glisan St, Portland OR 97220, with on‑call duties and no benefits. Funding: Available through October 31st, 2026 Number of Positions: 1 Responsibilities Outreach and enrollment of families in Multnomah, Clackamas, and Washington counties into the Parent‑Child Interaction (PCI) Program. Establish and maintain trusting relationships with families through regular home visits. Prepare and deliver community‑aware home visits, sharing child‑development information and activities using the Parent as Teachers (PAT) curriculum. Administer developmental screenings (ASQ‑3, ASQ‑SE) and coordinate referrals for early intervention when necessary. Provide parenting education, guidance, and support to promote positive parent‑child interaction. Support parents in kindergarten readiness and in creating yearly Family Goal Plans. Plan and organize monthly group meetings or field trips. Maintain accurate, timely documentation of visits, screenings, assessments, referrals, and reports. Participate in staff meetings, team meetings, supervision, training, committees, and volunteer activities to support IRCO goals and objectives. Provide referrals to community services (health, dental, family planning, low‑income housing, nutrition, rental and energy assistance, head start, childcare) as needed. Provide interpretation and translation services to enhance access to mainstream service providers. Required Qualifications Must pass a Background Check. Bilingual in English and Ukrainian. Reliable transportation; valid driver’s license; current auto insurance; full use of an automobile during work hours. Education: High School Diploma or GED required; associate degree in Social Work or Early Childhood Education preferred. Experience in early childhood services, parenting education, assessment, infant and child development, nutrition, preventive health care, and/or home visiting services. Professional level experience providing outreach, information, referrals, and follow‑up to clients. Experience working with young children and their families. Familiarity with service providers involved in parenting education, social services, health care, emergency services, and childcare. Ability to work in a multilingual environment. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of child development. Ability to build trust with families. Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and the Apricot database. Strong communication skills in a multilingual organization. Ability to work with multi‑lingual staff in a team setting. Ability to manage and track an assigned budget. Willingness to learn new skills and use initiative and judgment in completing tasks and responsibilities. Ability to interact courteously with employees, agency representatives, the public, families, and others. Ability to function positively in a demanding work environment, demonstrating flexibility and responding to changing priorities and schedules. Physical, Mental, & Environmental Requirements Hybrid job setting. Requires problem‑analysis and decision‑making skills. Work under close supervision in a well‑protected environment with minimal hazards. Stable work schedule with flexibility.
