We're looking for a skilled and empathetic Veterinary Technician to join our oncology team.About the RoleAs a Veterinary Oncology Technician, you'll play a central role in delivering high-quality cancer care, from chemotherapy administration and diagnostics to supporting clients through one of the most difficult journeys they'll face with their pet. This is a fast-paced, emotionally rewarding role for someone who thrives on both veterinary medicine and human connection.What You'll DoPlace and monitor IV catheters and administer chemotherapy under veterinarian direction, following strict safety protocols for hazardous drug handlingMonitor patients during and after treatment for adverse reactions and manage supportive care (anti-nausea medication, pain management, etc.)Draw blood, perform radiographs, assist with ultrasoundsPrepare diagnostic samples for cytology and histopathologyCalculate precise drug dosages based on body surface areaMaintain detailed and accurate treatment recordsEducate and support clients through treatment protocols, side effects, and home care with empathy and clarityCoordinate multi-week or multi-month treatment schedulesAssist with palliative and hospice care planning as neededWhat We're Looking ForActive veterinary technician license (CVT/RVT/LVT) preferred candidates without active licensure will be considered with a minimum of 2 years of veterinary experienceStrong IV catheter placement and venipuncture skillsComfort with chemotherapy administration and hazardous drug safety protocols (training will be provided)Excellent communication skills, especially with clients navigating a difficult diagnosisMeticulous attention to detail, particularly around dosing and recordkeepingAbility to stay calm and organized in a fast-paced clinical environmentA compassionate, resilient approach to emotionally demanding casesWhy Join Veterinary Cancer CareWork alongside a dedicated team of oncology specialists doing meaningful, advanced clinical workOngoing training and mentorship in oncology-specific protocolsHealth Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Retirement FundCE allowance (contingent on holding a valid veterinary technician license in New Mexico)Opportunity to receive support and funding towards licensureCompensation negotiable based on experience and licensure status
