Role Summary and Qualifications

The Registered Respiratory Therapist is responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-focused respiratory care in line with departmental needs and state regulations. As an integral member of the healthcare team, you will conduct diagnostic tests, perform therapeutic procedures, and monitor patients on both invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct and document patient assessments, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure, while performing diagnostic tests to determine the necessity and effectiveness of respiratory therapy.
• Administer respiratory therapies such as oxygen delivery, aerosol medication, and chest physiotherapy.
• Assist in the placement of artificial airways and manage mechanical ventilation.
• Monitor patients for therapeutic responses and communicate with providers to address any adverse reactions.
• Support the transportation of patients reliant on ventilators.
• Respond to emergency situations, ensuring airway integrity and adequate ventilation during resuscitation efforts.

Required Qualifications:

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 6 months of starting.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of starting.
• Neonate Resuscitation certification must be obtained within 6 months of starting.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification must be obtained within 6 months of starting.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (NBRC-RRT) certification.
• State Respiratory Therapist/Practitioner license (RRT/RCP).
• Associate Degree or equivalent certification.
