Position Summary

The Project Accountant plays a key role in the financial administration of active projects — setting up new jobs in the accounting system, preparing and submitting billings, tracking change orders, and supporting budget and reporting needs for Project Managers and the Controller. This role also provides backup support across the accounting team, making it a great fit for someone who enjoys variety and wants to build broad accounting experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up new projects in the accounting software

• Prepare and submit progress, retention, and miscellaneous project billings

• Manage the change order accounting process

• Enter and update PCIs

• Assist Project Managers and the Controller with project financial tracking, analysis, and reporting

• Assist with project budget setup and maintenance

• Maintain filing of project-related documentation and billings

• Assist the Controller with other accounting functions and special projects

• May provide backup support for payroll processing and general accounting functions

• Assist with data entry, filing, and general office tasks

• Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• 2-3 years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction or manufacturing industry.

• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word. Experience with CMIC or similar industry specific programs is preferred.

• Strong work ethic.

• A positive, team-oriented attitude.

• Desire to learn and grow professionally.

• Clear and effective communication skills.

• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Compensation & Benefits:

• $32-$35 per hour
