Position Type Athletics/Activities/High School Coach Date Posted 3/31/2026 Location Sheridan High School, Denver, CO Job Title Head Cheerleading Coach Schedule Seasonal; Work hours based upon scheduling of practice and games Work Status Classified, Hourly Exempt Reports To Principal and Athletic Director Position Summary The Head Cheerleading Coach works under the direction of the Athletic Director and is responsible for training and managing the cheerleading team. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Establish and maintain an effective working relationship with students, staff, and the community Prepare and develop lessons for practices that are developmentally appropriate for High School Team Sports in the following areas: cheers, dances, stunts, and tumbling Develop routines for half time shows, rallies, community performances and competitions Monitor student attendance, participation and safety during practice and events Uphold the student conduct code according to district policy. Model appropriate behavior, language and conflict resolution strategies Responsible for the inventory of equipment and supplies Oversee and advise any fund‑raising activities Demonstrate personal integrity, responsibility, impartiality, respect and courtesy Perform any other specific job‑related duties as directed by the Athletic Director or Principal Supervisory Duties Oversee cheerleading team Position Requirements Previous Cheer/Spirit/Pom Team experience (dance or gymnastics background is a plus) Excellent written and verbal communication skills Outstanding organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize various projects and deadlines Required High School diploma or G.E.D. Preferred Bilingual Spanish/English desirable CPR/AED Certification Knowledge, Skills and Experience Ability to project high energy and excitement Ability to exercise good judgment and tact Ability to cope with emergency situations Ability to accept guidance and feedback Ability and desire to take initiative Ability to listen, communicate effectively and act responsibly Clearance Must clear background check through the CBI and the FBI through Fingerprint submission Salary Placement on the Additive Salary Schedule based upon previous related experience.
